seiLeise is one of Germany's most renowned street artists. With over 2,000 works in public spaces across Europe, he has shaped the face of urban art for more than a decade. His meticulously detailed paste-ups combine social observation with the aesthetics of transience.
“Resistance” was created in the context of the Belarusian revolution of 2020/2021. The motif commemorates the courage of the people who peacefully opposed the regime despite massive repression. Drawing inspiration from the historical national flag of Belarus, the work incorporates the white and red colors of the protest movement. Many demonstrators wore white, carried flowers, and thus set a silent but powerful example of resistance.
As a work of street art, “Résistance” becomes a memorial to a failed revolution – and at the same time a tribute to all those who risked their freedom to stand up for democracy, human dignity and hope.
Concrete serves seiLeise as an authentic carrier of urban history. The rough, textured surface provides the ideal substrate for his paste-ups and stencil work. It symbolizes both permanence and change – a material that gives form to the traces of the city and consciously emphasizes the transience of his artworks.
seiLeise is currently represented by the following galleries :
