seiLeise is one of Germany's most well-known street artists. With over 2,000 works in public spaces across Europe, he has shaped the face of urban art for more than a decade. His detailed paste-ups combine social observation with the aesthetics of the ephemeral.
The „Résistance“ artwork was created in the context of the Belarusian Revolution of 2020/2021. The motif is a reminder of the courage of the people who peacefully opposed the regime despite massive repression. Based on the historical national flag of Belarus, the work incorporates the white and red colors of the protest movement. Many demonstrators wore white, held flowers in their hands, and thus set a silent but powerful sign of resistance.
As a street art piece, „Résistance“ becomes a memorial to a failed revolution - and at the same time a tribute to all those who risked their freedom to stand up for democracy, human dignity and hope.
Concrete serves seiLeise as an authentic medium of urban history. The rough, textured surface provides the ideal background for his paste-ups and stencil work. It is symbolic of both permanence and change – a material that gives shape to the traces of the city and consciously emphasizes the transience of his artworks.
seiLeise is currently represented by the following Galleries:
artfontainebleau (France)
Kunstkabinett Stefan Moll (Germany)
Galerie Incontro (Germany)
